Bitdeer buys 200 acres next to Rockdale for AI and high-performance computing buildout

On September 1, Bitdeer Technologies Group (Nasdaq: BTDR) said it completed a fee-simple purchase (outright ownership, not a lease) of about 200 acres of greenfield land in Milam County, Texas, near its existing Rockdale facility, for about $100 million in cash. The company filed the press release as Exhibit 99.1 to a Form 6-K (the current-report form foreign private issuers use for material updates) dated September 2. Bitdeer says the Milam County sites, including the new parcel, currently have about 563 megawatts of interconnected grid capacity, with existing plans expected to scale to 742 megawatts, plus a dedicated water supply. After the deal it cites about 255 acres and 742 megawatts of existing and pipeline power capacity in Milam County, and about 3.0 gigawatts of total power capacity across its global portfolio. Management framed the land as removing a site-control constraint so it can plan, finance, and develop AI and high-performance-computing infrastructure while keeping Bitcoin mining on the current site. The release does not name a tenant, offtake (a contracted buyer of capacity), ready-for-service date, or newly signed interconnection beyond the existing plans.

Why it matters

Fee ownership at an ERCOT-connected campus matters for financing and long-dated high-performance-computing development because lenders and tenants usually want clear site control without lease-renewal risk. The cash outlay is real; the path from land to energized AI halls is not yet contracted in this release.
