Cipher, Fluidstack, and Anthropic commit $10 million to Colorado City water upgrades
Cipher Digital Inc., Fluidstack, and Anthropic committed a combined $10 million for repairs and upgrades to Colorado City, Texas’s water system after summer shortages and July storm damage. Funds will be managed through a new nonprofit, the Colorado City Water Infrastructure Foundation. Cipher says its Barber Lake data center uses an on-site water supply and draws nothing from the city system. No new megawatts, lease dollars, or offtake were disclosed.
Why it matters
A social-license and community-infrastructure spend at Cipher’s Barber Lake HPC campus, naming Fluidstack and Anthropic as co-funders, not a commercial power or capacity milestone.
