IREN says its 2 GW Sweetwater hub is conditional Batch Zero Base Load
IREN Limited announced that its 2 GW Sweetwater Hub—Sweetwater 1 (1,400 MW) and Sweetwater 2 (600 MW)—has been conditionally included in ERCOT’s Batch Zero process as Base Load. The hub is part of IREN’s announced more-than-5 GW global data-center development portfolio. At Sweetwater 1, the high-voltage substation was energized earlier this year and construction of 300 MW (gross) of data-center capacity continues with delivery targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027. IREN said other unnamed large-scale pipeline projects were also included in Batch Zero and will be added to the announced portfolio only after grid-connection agreements are executed. The company stressed that ERCOT classifications remain conditional and subject to ongoing approval processes.
Why it matters
Sweetwater is one of the largest named campus footprints to claim Base Load status in the first public Batch Zero disclosure week, tying construction timelines to a still-provisional grid seat.
